March Madness

March Madness has begun… and no, I’m not talking about basketball!

Throughout the month of March, the Grade 1 students will be doing a March Madness Book Challenge. Everyday we will read two picture books and the students will vote using a google form to pick which book they liked best. The book with the most votes will advance to the next round.

Stayed tuned to find out which book will be the winner!!

Reading Homework

This week the students were given a poem called The Best School. Please have your child read and highlight the rhyming pairs in each stanza. Also, each child was given a new list of sight words to learn how to read, please read them daily. Once they can easily read them, send us an e-mail and we will provide your child with a new list. If there is no list in your child’s red folder that means they have completed the lists and can read the necessary sight words for grade 1 and 2.

Reminder:
Tomorrow is 100th day! The students can dress up to look 100 years old, no uniform necessary tomorrow. No other costumes please.

Have a great evening!

Weekly Reading Homework

On Monday, your child will be bringing home their reading homework for the week. They each have their own take home folder that contains information on how to best support your child with their reading, a list of word-solving strategies to use and a just right book for them to read. Their homework is to read every night (not during Shabbat), please date and sign their log each day and return to school. They are excited to receive a sticker each day for fulfilling their responsibility of completing their nightly homework. Once you have read all the information provided in your child’s folder and still have questions don’t hesitate to e-mail me.

HAPPY  READING!!!!!
