Hope to see you there. 🙂
Please RSVP to Kara Goodwin at: email@example.com
We hope you had a lovely long weekend.
As a school, we are currently collecting food for the Kosher Food Bank. The KFB will be here on Friday, June 7th to accept our donations. Please start sending in kosher, packaged, non perishable foods as soon as you can.
Thank you for your help.
Good morning Grade 1 Parents!
We have a 2 reminders for you…
- A field trip permission form is going home today in your child’s note tote. We have rescheduled our trip to the Museum of Science and Technology (it was cancelled on the day of our snow day). Please sign it and send it back as soon as possible.
- Please create your child’s fundraising page for the Maccabiah Games! You can e-mail Morah Lianna if you are having tech-related issues.
Have a fantastic day!
We are so excited for June 4th! Our Colour War and Walk/Run have been combined to create OJCS Maccabiah Games!
Information about which team your child is on and how to fundraise for this event will be sent to the parents via e-mail.
Stay up to date on which team has raised the most money!
Now that the warm sun has arrived we ask that you send your children with a summer hat and sunscreen daily, as they spend at least 40 minutes in the sun every day.
Thank you. 🙂
Grade 1 Team.
Friendly reminder that we will be visiting the Scholastic Book Fair as a class tomorrow (Thursday) morning. If you would like you child to purchase books for themselves or the classroom wish list, please send money to school tomorrow in the note tote and we will help them shop. If you have already sent in money, we have been labelling and collecting to prepare for tomorrow’s visit – don’t worry!
Have a great evening!
We have been learning about materials and structures… We have been making plans and designs…. AND TODAY, we finally started to build our play structures!
The classroom was buzzing with excitement this afternoon as the Grade 1 students started to build their play structures for this year’s STEAM Fair. We have play structures with pools, slides, rock climbing walls, and so much more! We will continue working on our play structures on Monday, so please feel free to keep sending in empty paper towel rolls, cardboard, recyclable materials, or anything else your child may want to use for their structure!
You are invited to come see the Grade 1 STEAM Fair projects on Thursday, March 7th from 8:45-9:30am. We look forward to showing off all of our hard work!
Please see the note below about the Middle School STEAM Fair:
The OJCS is still seeking about 10 judges for next week’s STEAM Fair. If you know of someone in the following fields (a relative, colleague or friend) who might be available to come on Thursday morning, March 7, 2019 for about 2 – 2 1/2 hours, please notify Ellie Kamil in the office (firstname.lastname@example.org). We are looking for judges with experience in the field of science, mathematics, engineering, technology and art. We also provide a light breakfast!
This week the students were given a poem called The Best School. Please have your child read and highlight the rhyming pairs in each stanza. Also, each child was given a new list of sight words to learn how to read, please read them daily. Once they can easily read them, send us an e-mail and we will provide your child with a new list. If there is no list in your child’s red folder that means they have completed the lists and can read the necessary sight words for grade 1 and 2.
Tomorrow is 100th day! The students can dress up to look 100 years old, no uniform necessary tomorrow. No other costumes please.
Have a great evening!
We will be doing a K-5 Family Kabbalat Shabbat on Friday, December 21st in the Gym at 1:30pm.
Hope to see you there!
