Reading Recordings for week of May 21st

Hi everyone,

I hope you had a lovely long weekend.

We spoke today about reading more fluidly.  We spoke about how, for most of us, it is not enough to read something only one time, and the importance of reading the homework a few times.  If you see that your child is struggling with the length of the reading, have them read only a few lines (please mark up to where they read), and repeat them to encourage fluidity.  Remember, they can listen to my reading before, during, and/or after they read.

sometimes less is more. I rather each child read well, even if they do not read the whole part. At this stage we are reading for fluidity more than for comprehension.  That part is worked on in class.

Happy reading:

Welcome back and Reading Recordings for Week of April 29th

Welcome back everyone,

Tried to bring you some Spring back from Israel… but I guess we’ll have to wait some more…

I hope you all had a wonderful Pesach and time with your ‘Mishpacha.’

I am reminding you to email me photos or short videos if you have of your child reading in the Hagaddah, singing Mah Nishtana, playing their memory game, etc… it will be a great way for your child to share their experience in the kitah. 🙂

This week we will be learning a song for our Yom Ha’atzmaut celebration next week.

Watching it will help learn the words and the signs we will be using with it.

Here are the recordings for this week:

Monday – Yachad Lev el Lev – part 1

Tuesday –  Yachad Lev el Lev – part 2

Wednesday – Beh-Ivrit Lo Meh-shah-ah-mem – part 1

Thursday – Beh-Ivrit Lo Meh-shah-ah-mem – part 2

The song Beh-Ivrit Lo Meh-shah-ah-mem: Continue reading “Welcome back and Reading Recordings for Week of April 29th”

Kadesh Urchatz with hand motions and information regarding Our Model Seder

Three lovely students from my Kitah Dalet created a video to teach our class the motions as we sing Kadesh Urchatz.  They will be coming to Kitah Alef to teach it to us as well.

Here is the video for the whole family to learn together… and maybe use when you are having your Seder as well.

We will be using this version in our Kitah Alef Model Seder on Tuesday, April 16th. Please see what to bring in our Model Seder document.

Reading recordings for week of April 1st

Hello everyone,

We have a fun start to our week tomorrow with a special guest, Jacqueline Mills, (Kayla’s Savta) coming to teach us Israeli folk dancing right after the first break.

For homework this week, we are continuing with Pesach readings and songs. Please remember to read first, and then watch the video and sing along😊.

Monday – Halachma Anya:

Tuesday – Mah Nishtanah?

Wednesday and Thursday are reading parts from the Hagadah.

Wednesday –  Avadim Hayinu Lehparoh Bemitzrayim

Thursday – Pesach, Al Shum Mah?

If you have a Hagadah at home with a special story that you would like to share with us, we would love to see it and hear all about it. You are welcome to visit us in the coming three weeks, or record yourself and send it to us… or of course, have your child tell us the story.

Tonight’s song

Very easy and repetitive reading tonight: Avadim Hayeenu

Today we spoke about Chametz and had some interesting debate as to what is and what is not… eggs? pasta? apple?

The students also shared what they remember doing at home before Pesach…

We spoke about the past and today and the move from “Avadim to Bnei Chorin.”

Here is the reading recording for the song above:

Tonight’s Homework

Hi everyone,

Purim is behind us and Pesach is arriving quickly.  To prepare the children to take part in the reading of the Haggadah we will be learning songs and some of the parts in class.  We have our own little Haggadah which the students will bring home after our in class mini-Seder in 3 weeks, and hopefully will use at the family Seder.

Starting today, and for the coming weeks homework will be in a small notebook, where we glue in the parts. Please continue signing on the page itself every day.

We ask that the children read the songs first and then sing them, as we go over the meaning as well.

We begin today with the song “Simchah Raba”

following is the reading of the song.

For some strange reason the children were all missing from school today, but a group of book/movie characters came instead… We are having a fun learning day together…

I do hope to see them all back at school tomorrow…

Regardless… Homework is given only today and tomorrow, due to Ta’anit Esther, and Purim.

We will be finishing the book and read it all again at school on Wednesday. Here they are again:
